Drupal Fails to Upgrade: one possible cause.

A cautionary tale for those who maintain Drupal websites and have big mouse-clicking fingers (like me).

Recently when applying a security release (6.19 to 6.20) to a production site, I came across a situation where replacing the core Drupal files at the root of the site and running update.php silently ‘failed’. Try as I might I could not get the site to accept that the core files had been overwritten and where now version 6.20. Google for once was of no use.  read more »

Making Drupal theming a little easier.

Creating themes for Drupal 6 can be an involved process, not least because you have to declare a number of important aspects of the theme in an [theme_name].info file. Not complicated (when you have done it a couple of times) just a little tedious.  read more »

An Interesting Contrast

For those of you who read Swedish...

One of my recent projects with Wolfstar has just launched. Sam Oakley and I have developed a Drupal based social media newsroom (SMNR) for Philips.

We will be creating SMNR's for the other countries in Scandinavia over the next few months. When the dust has settled, I will publish a technical write up of how we did it and the design decisions we made.
